Product Description

This is a SUPER Wisden Paperback from 1901, that has been tastefully rebound. The Thirty Eighth edition.

First of all, the faults…It seems that prior to being rebound the spine of the original paperback may have been taped to the covers to keep it in place, as there is very professional-looking tape to the extreme left of the front cover, and the extreme right of the rear cover. No text is lost and only the outside edge of the back cover pattern is obscured. Also, the page block is speckled.

Now the good stuff. The boards are exceptional. Firm, strong and quite stunning, with the year to the spine.
The original front and rear wrappers are present and they are super, odd ageing but overall super.

Internally this 1901 is in excellent condition! The photo-plate is also delightful – the actual photograph implies it is shady, its just the shadow from my badly-taken photograph.

A True 9/10.

Contents Include:
Mr RE Foster and Four Yorkshiremen
Umpires and Where to Find Them.
Fielding by DLA Jephson.
West Indies in England.
Ranjitsinhji in the Cricket field.
County Champions: Warwickshire.
Sheffield Shield: New South Wales.

Every listing in this auction is a book from a Wisden Collectors’ Club member. Their aim, along with mine is to allow a Wisden they no longer require to go to a fellow collector to read and enjoy. The Wisden Collectors’ Club does not take any fee at all – every single penny including the postage the winner pays, goes to the seller. You will see books listed in our auctions that have equivalents on the website that is my business (Wisdenworld) and you will see that they sell for more on Wisdenworld. That is a consequence that I am prepared to take in order for collectors to have a true and genuine opportunity of buying and selling Wisdens to each other. As a business I hope it also builds up loyalty and trust in both the WCC and Wisdenworld.
You will see that the listing style on both the WCC and Wisdenworld is the same, this is done to save time – being realistic, the WCC auctions take a lot of time so I try and make it easy for myself, hence the similar styles.

In this current auction (and throughout 2019) after agreement with all sellers a percentage of the final sale price plus ALL Proceeds (including Postage) from books taken from the Latest Offers And Giveaways section of the website will be split between The Alzheimer’s Society and The Kings Arms Project (Bedford).

Thank you so much for taking part.
