Product Description

A splendid book.

A panoramic view of cricket from its embryonic stirrings on the nursery slopes of the Weald and Wessex, through three centuries of growing sophistication and often tumultuous events, right up to the one-day limited-over prototype, the Packer revoution, the game today and to come. The book looks at the stages and transitions in the game’s development, the colourful personalities of every era, as well as the equally colourful grounds and stadia. Also included are the accoutrements of the game – ceramics, presentation plates, cartoons, cigarette cards, labels, buckles and beer mats.

Published 1990.

Hardback – with jacket.

Condition: 8/10. The jacket is a little aged.

Every general cricket book in this section has not been paid for by the Wisden Collectors’ Club or Wisdenworld. Sometimes when Wisden collections are acquired by Wisdenworld, the seller has other non-almanacks and invariably, they are eager to dispose of them. I make it absolutely clear to the people with these books that I DO NOT have much idea on their worth and it might be best if they seek another opinion or  another buyer. On most occasions, especially when dealing with a collection from someone who has passed away, they simply wish the headache removed.

It is only right that if I have not paid for these books, then every single penny including the postage paid goes to a worthy cause or two.

ALL Proceeds (including Postage) from books taken from the Latest Offers And Giveaways section of the website will be split between The Alzheimer’s Society and The Kings Arms Project (Bedford).

Thank you so much for looking and if you purchase any editions, happy reading!
