Product Description

Between 1980 and 1993, Simon Hughes was a regular on the county circuit, playing for Middlesex until 1991 before moving on to Durham at the end of his career. In that time, he played alongside some of the great characters in cricket: Mike Brearley, Mike Gatting, Phil Edmonds and Ian Botham. This is not an autobiography of a good county pro, but a look at the ups and downs, the lifestyle, the practical jokes and sheer hard yakka that make such a poorly paid, insecure job appeal to so many. Now a respected journalist and broadcaster, Simon Hughes has written a brilliant, amusing and wrily self-depracating book, packed with hilarious and embarrassing anecdotes about some of the greatest cricketers of the last 20 years.

To be read and enjoyed!

Published 1997.

IMPORTANT:

Every general cricket book in this section has not been paid for by the Wisden Collectors’ Club or Wisdenworld. Sometimes when Wisden collections are acquired by Wisdenworld, the seller has other non-almanacks and invariably, they are eager to dispose of them. I make it absolutely clear to the people with these books that I DO NOT have much idea on their worth and it might be best if they seek another opinion or  another buyer. On most occasions, especially when dealing with a collection from someone who has passed away, they simply wish the headache removed.

It is only right that if I have not paid for these books, then every single penny including the postage paid goes to a worthy cause or two.

ALL Proceeds (including Postage) from books taken from the Latest Offers And Giveaways section of the website will be split between The Alzheimer’s Society and The Kings Arms Project (Bedford).

Thank you so much for looking and if you purchase any editions, happy reading!
